Construction Foreman

Job Summary

We are a local Santa Cruz solar and electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including solar design/build, commercial electrical, commercial solar installations, residential electrical, residential solar installations, electrical vehicle charging stations, and unique off grid solar applications.

We have an open position within our operations team for a Foreman/Project Lead/Electrician for commercial/industrial/residential solar and electrical installations. This will be a key member of the Sandbar project team overseeing construction activities and be a liaison between clients, contractors and project managers. This individual must be very comfortable working in a dynamic and demanding environment with challenges and direction coming from multiple departments. Experience with "real-life" construction coordination and challenges is a must. They must be very organized, calm, and work well with others to achieve success. Our shop is located in Santa Cruz, but work can be based throughout the greater Bay Area and Central Coast. Travel is required

The candidate will be required to pass a background check and have a clean DMV record. A significant portion of our work is underground. A complete understanding of underground work method and safety is very important. Much of this type of work is around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Managing the attendance and safety of the installation crew
  • Conduct safety meetings, discuss work plan, assess safety issues, and deploy an organized and efficient work team
  • Organizing and keeping inventory of material flow
  • Manage on site and shop stock of materials and tools required for the effort
  • Create orders and submit with time for procurement and delivery
  • Planning daily and weekly work efforts
  • Prepare well in advance of the work flow for materials, tools and subcontractors to be ready
  • Coordinating with clients and other contractors
  • Reporting to Project Managers

Qualifications and Skills

  • A clean professional appearance and ability to clearly communicate with clients and others is an integral part of the Superintendent duties
  • Comprehension and experience with the suite of Microsoft office product is required
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful in completing tasks, and able to prioritize tasks effectively while remaining organized
  • High energy level and work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Solar industry experience
  • Customer Service oriented with a professional and positive attitude
  • Understanding of working in a fast paced contracting environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Solar Installer

We have an open position within our operations team for a Solar Installer for commercial/industrial/residential solar and electrical installations. Journeyman Solar Service Technician

We are a local Santa Cruz electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including commercial solar and electrical, residential solar and electrical, electrical vehicle charging stations, and energy storage systems. We have an available position for a full time Journeyman Solar Service Technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Servicing, Maintaining and Troubleshooting Commercial and Residential Solar PV systems.
  • Installing and Troubleshooting Solar/Power Monitoring and Data Communication Hardware, Software, and device Firmware.
  • Customer Service

Qualifications:

  • CA Certified General Electrician or seasoned electrical professional.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Have strong technical knowledge of all the major inverter, module, monitoring brands such as SMA, SolarEdge, Enphase, Canadian Solar, AlsoEnergy.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Be able to present a clean, professional image.
  • Be able to clearly communicate with supervisors, customers and homeowners.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with technical support to facilitate product servicing and RMAs.
  • Be able to devise logical, and efficient methods of troubleshooting complex and difficult electrical issues. 
  • Able to work independently or with others.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Long term oriented.
  • Strong work ethic.

Requirements:

  • Strong electrical and NEC knowledge.
  • Clean Driving Record and valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to commute.

Commercial Journeyman Electrician

We are a local Santa Cruz electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including commercial solar and electrical, residential solar and electrical, electrical vehicle charging stations, and energy storage systems. We have an available position for a full time Commercial Journeyman Electrician.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing Panelboards, Transformers, Solar PV Inverters, Power Monitoring equipment, etc.
  • Installing Conduit and pulling wire.
  • Terminating conductors.
  • Working with and training electrical apprentices and trainees.

Qualifications:

  • CA Certified General Electrician.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Have strong technical knowledge of all the major inverter, module, monitoring brands such as SMA, SolarEdge, Enphase, Canadian Solar, AlsoEnergy.

Solar Site Auditor & Inspection Technician

We are a local Santa Cruz electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including commercial solar and electrical, residential solar and electrical, electrical vehicle charging stations, and energy storage systems. We have an available position for a Solar Site Auditor & Inspection Technician.

As a representative of the company the candidate must be able to present a clean, professional image and demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate with supervisors, homeowners and inspectors. We expect the candidate to maintain a safe and responsible driving record and to keep a provided company truck and tools in excellent condition. The job requires driving to multiple job sites in a day, over the greater Bay Area and Monterey bay. A company truck is provided along with some tools, but the candidate must have their own hand tools for electrical work including, screw drivers, wire strippers, wrenches, drill and diagonal cutters. It is required that the candidate have a thorough understanding of home construction, be able to accurately identify framing members and photograph and create written documentation of site conditions. The position will handle solar and energy storage site audits, City/County inspections, service calls, technical troubleshooting and project punch-list/close out items.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Provide detailed photo and written documentation of work completed
  • Professional workmanship and character
  • High energy level and work well in a team environment
  • Electrical experience required
  • Solar system install experience required
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NEC Code required
  • Apprentice or certified Journeyman Card a plus
  • Attention to details and safety
  • Basic office computer skills desired
