Construction Foreman

Job Summary

We are a local Santa Cruz solar and electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including solar design/build, commercial electrical, commercial solar installations, residential electrical, residential solar installations, electrical vehicle charging stations, and unique off grid solar applications.

We have an open position within our operations team for a Foreman/Project Lead/Electrician for commercial/industrial/residential solar and electrical installations. This will be a key member of the Sandbar project team overseeing construction activities and be a liaison between clients, contractors and project managers. This individual must be very comfortable working in a dynamic and demanding environment with challenges and direction coming from multiple departments. Experience with "real-life" construction coordination and challenges is a must. They must be very organized, calm, and work well with others to achieve success. Our shop is located in Santa Cruz, but work can be based throughout the greater Bay Area and Central Coast. Travel is required

The candidate will be required to pass a background check and have a clean DMV record. A significant portion of our work is underground. A complete understanding of underground work method and safety is very important. Much of this type of work is around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Managing the attendance and safety of the installation crew
  • Conduct safety meetings, discuss work plan, assess safety issues, and deploy an organized and efficient work team
  • Organizing and keeping inventory of material flow
  • Manage on site and shop stock of materials and tools required for the effort
  • Create orders and submit with time for procurement and delivery
  • Planning daily and weekly work efforts
  • Prepare well in advance of the work flow for materials, tools and subcontractors to be ready
  • Coordinating with clients and other contractors
  • Reporting to Project Managers

Qualifications and Skills

  • A clean professional appearance and ability to clearly communicate with clients and others is an integral part of the Superintendent duties
  • Comprehension and experience with the suite of Microsoft office product is required
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful in completing tasks, and able to prioritize tasks effectively while remaining organized
  • High energy level and work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Solar industry experience
  • Customer Service oriented with a professional and positive attitude
  • Understanding of working in a fast paced contracting environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Residential Solar Consultant

We are a local Santa Cruz electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including commercial solar and electrical, residential solar and electrical, electrical vehicle charging stations, and energy storage systems. We have an available position for a Residential Solar Consultant.

Qualifications:

  • Only individuals with proven PV sales experience will be considered.
  • Professional appearance, attitude, and character
  • Understanding of solar industry and marketplace, including solar site evaluations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Office computer skills
  • Light marketing and collateral development skills
  • PV, Electrical Construction/Contracting experience or knowledge a plus
  • High energy level and work well in a team environment, but able to take initiative and follow through 
  • Position requires a clean DMV report, maintenance of valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation

Solar Installer

Journeyman Solar Service Technician

We have an available position for a full time Journeyman Solar Service Technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Servicing, Maintaining and Troubleshooting Commercial and Residential Solar PV systems.
  • Installing and Troubleshooting Solar/Power Monitoring and Data Communication Hardware, Software, and device Firmware.
  • Customer Service

Qualifications:

  • CA Certified General Electrician or seasoned electrical professional.
  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Have strong technical knowledge of all the major inverter, module, monitoring brands such as SMA, SolarEdge, Enphase, Canadian Solar, AlsoEnergy.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Be able to present a clean, professional image.
  • Be able to clearly communicate with supervisors, customers and homeowners.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with technical support to facilitate product servicing and RMAs.
  • Be able to devise logical, and efficient methods of troubleshooting complex and difficult electrical issues.

Commercial Journeyman Electrician

We are a local Santa Cruz electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including commercial solar and electrical, residential solar and electrical, electrical vehicle charging stations, and energy storage systems. We have an available position for a full time Commercial Journeyman Electrician.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing Panelboards, Transformers, Solar PV Inverters, Power Monitoring equipment, etc.
  • Installing Conduit and pulling wire.
  • Terminating conductors.
  • Working with and training electrical apprentices and trainees.

Qualifications:

  • CA Certified General Electrician.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Have strong technical knowledge of all the major inverter, module, monitoring brands such as SMA, SolarEdge, Enphase, Canadian Solar, AlsoEnergy.

Solar Designer

We are a local Santa Cruz electrical contractor who has been in business for 15 years with a variety of projects including design/build, commercial electrical, commercial solar, residential electrical, residential solar, electrical vehicle charging stations, and off grid solar. We have an available position for Solar Designer. The primary role is to prepare permit plan sets for residential and small commercial photovoltaic system installations utilizing CAD. Plan sets include array layout, electrical schematics, structural details, and equipment specifications. This person will also need to work with building departments, utilities, or other AHJ to ensure compliance with local and national requirements. Field visits may be required at times to obtain site information necessary to complete designs.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Professional workmanship and character

  • Maintain current knowledge of the NEC and all building codes applicable for photovoltaic
  • Microsoft Office and CAD experience required

S/he must be very comfortable working in a dynamic project and contracting environment with challenges and direction coming from multiple sources. Key Responsibilities:

Develop, estimate, and be actively involved in the contract negotiation of commercial solar and electrical design/build and construction projects

Evaluate and establish relevant project job costing and job set-up

Ability to read and evaluate engineered drawings sets, project scopes of work, and organize a project for success.

Effective client management and communication as it relates to current and new projects, and on-going service

Solicit, select, and manage subcontractors throughout design and construction phases of projects
