What Customers Say About Us
(This will be long, but should be worth the read)
I highly recommend Sandbar Solar. There have been so many nightmare stories related to Solar City and others, Sandbar was... read more a reassuring change. Jarrett McGuckin was the sales rep I worked with thru the entire process. He patiently answered all of my questions, providing all the details I needed to make an informed purchase decision. It was truly AMAZING how far we got in the process without having to meet in person. It's IMPERITIVE to point out that I NEVER felt any pressure from Jarrett. There was never any pressure to send a deposit check or anything like that -- the laid back approach to getting paid was very reassuring. The only pressure was the sunsetting of NEM 2.0 (if you've read this far, you're probably quite familiar).
Jarrett provided a detailed initial plan, complete with estimated roof-placement of panels. All without visiting in person and without commitment ('love Google Maps). The initial design was far from perfect, but it was a great start, giving a very adequate idea of whether solar would be worth the investment.
Jarrett was very responsive to email and/or phone calls with questions I had along the way.
Once the trigger was pulled another Sandbar team member, Eddie Diaz visited my home to do a pre-engineering planning drawing assessment of my home (roof and electrical panels). He too was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. This visit was a couple of weeks earlier than originally expected, serving as a reaffirmation of my decision to go with Sandbar.
Installation began three weeks earlier than expected (refer to previous commentary about reaffirmation). The lead installer, Chad, and his team were quite friendly and really knew their stuff. The install was expected to take 3 days. It took two. After the first day, I was very impressed with the attention to detail in the work done. The conduit was bent perfectly and calk was applied cleanly. The installers moved everything necessary in my garage to allow for conduit install and then moved everything back. While all of this is in many ways trivial, it's also *everything*. To me, if an installer pays attention to details, the overall work is much more likely to be very good.
My install was completed in January 2023. There has been a metric ton of rain since then and no roof leaks. I'm confident Mother Nature has performed a sufficient leak test.
The only real problem I ran into was PG&E's delay in providing Permission to Operate (to start getting credit for sending power up the wire). This was outside the control of Sandbar though. Brandon Pattynama with Sandbar was as helpful as he could be in providing assistance with PG&E. The delays ended up being due to the enormous increase in workload for the PG&E PTO team related to the sunsetting of NEM 2.0.
Jarrett, Eddie, Chad, Brandon, and the inside project coordinator, Joceyln (who really did a lot of the heavy lifting) were excellent to work with. They were supportive, responsive, and highly knowledgeable through the entire process. BONUS: I got to use a local company and not get lost in the fog of Tesla or any of the other national firms.

Realizing... read more that installing a solar system is a big expense, we did our due diligence by reaching out to three local companies to gather information. After speaking with them all there was a clear choice.
From the initial consultation to the completion of the project, Sandbar exhibited a level of professionalism that exceeded our expectations. Their team was incredibly responsive, answering all our questions and concerns with patience and in-depth knowledge. Equally the after-service support has been impressive. They have made it clear that their relationship with clients extends beyond the installation, offering ongoing support and advice.
We also appreciate their dedication to sustainability and environmentally friendly practices. It's clear that Sandbar is not just in the business of installing solar panels; they are passionate about making a positive impact on the environment.

Everything went great. We couldn't be happier.
Margaret Nelson September 17, 2021
After interviewing five "local" solar installation companies and doing our due diligence, we chose Sandbar Solar for our solar installation in 2023. One of our neighbors (who had Sandbar... read more as their solar installer) were very pleased with Sandbar's professionalism, customer service and installation - and recommended them highly. Our experience was the same ... excellent! Nothing fell through the cracks, as a customer you can actually speak to a live person (!) and the team was on time for all appointments. Lastly, we appreciated the after-installation follow up. Sandbar is top-notch from beginning to end!

The installation of solar on our home has been a pleasure throughout the process. Sandbar are a local business and everyone we interacted with clearly enjoy what they are... read more doing, were professional and care deeply about the quality of the installation and their relationship with clients - who after-all are neighbors. We learned much throughout the process from the original design, permitting, installation and future maintenance.
The installers checked back with us to ensure all was working fine.
We recommend allowing Sandbar to deal with the permitting and liaison with PG&E. Our job was not simple but they were able to shepherd our project through the numerous hurdles at a very reasonable fee.
In summary - this was a great experience throughout the project - particularly with the Sandbar people.

We're now at about the 6 month mark for our new solar installation, and frankly, we couldn't be happier with the results and the work that Sandbar did. When... read more we started, we knew the solar installers were going to be busy with the rush to get in under NEM2.0, but Jarrett was knowledgeable, super-responsive, and incredibly patient with our questions. With the demand, we did have to wait a bit for installation, but Jarrett and Jocelyn made sure to keep us in the loop as they managed scheduling, permits, and the utility interconnection process.
Installation went smoothly and the crew was on time, polite, and professional. PG&E took some time to do their part, but in the end we turned the switch on, and we're selling power to them now, instead of buying! The Q Cell panels and Enphase inverters and combiner are working great and the reporting tools included have been very useful.
Sandbar will be our first choice if we look to expand or add functionality, and we'd recommend them to anyone looking to make the jump to solar.

The system Sandbar installed has been up and running for about 8 months. To say that I am pleased with the resulting power bill from our utility company would... read more be an understatement – from $600 to $50. The system is dramatically out performing my expectations. I checked the Solar Edge monitoring system frequently and get a sense of contentment each time.
