Sandbar Solar & Electric Team Leaders

Scott Laskey, President

Scott started in the solar power industry in the 1990’s after a long tenure in the high tech semi-conductor and biotechnology facility construction field. He wanted to apply his technical design/build contracting expertise in the renewable industry to affect a positive change, while building a local company in his community, which would offer employment and career opportunities to like-minded professionals.

Scott earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from UC San Diego, holds a NABCEP certification, and has lectured on and taught high-tech construction practices and solar PV technical concepts to education institutions, including Stanford University and state-recognized electrician apprenticeship programs.

While not at work, Scott spends countless hours on the soccer field coaching and volunteering to pass along the game to younger generations while still actively playing to stay fit. If Scott isn’t on the soccer field, he spends time with his wife and two kids in the outdoors — camping, mountain biking, free diving, and surfing.

Cale Garamendi, Vice President of Project Development

Cale earned a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University.  He also holds a Class B general contracting license in California. He is both OSHA-30 and NABCEP technical sales certified. During the majority of his 13 years in the solar industry Cale has been responsible for developing commercial projects throughout California.  He is tasked with providing strategic management and leadership in business development, lead generation, and marketing activities with a focus on structuring strategic partnerships and penetration of new market segments.

Cale is a 5th generation Californian.  He grew up in the foothills where he came to love the outdoors.  His passion for travel and language learning led him to spend nearly 3 years in rural Ecuador and Northern Spain.  Athletics was a big part of Cale’s youth, culminating at UC Berkeley where he played football and rugby.

Prior to working at Sandbar, Stuart was employed at REgrid Power, RGS Energy, and Sunetric. He recognized that renewable and sustainable energy was going to an important and necessary shift, worldwide.

Stuart realized that solar was his new career path, and was thrilled to be apart of Sandbar for its great reputation, quality people, and to be apart of a locally, growing company. On Stuart’s spare time he likes to surf, play soccer, play music, and loves to spend time with his son. An interesting fact about Stuart is that he was a project engineer for 3.5 MW in Fremont Union High School District.

Alicia Moss, Project Development

Alicia Moss grew up in Sonoma County and moved to Santa Cruz in 2007. Alicia has worked in Santa Cruz during the summers in college, and absolutely loved the area. She knew she had to live here once she graduated college. Alicia attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and received her degree in Environmental Management and Protection. Prior to Sandbar, she has worked for a local non-profit and then a special district on voluntary programs; for landowners that were interested in implementing on-the-ground habitat restoration, fire protection, water conservation and water quality improvement projects.

Alicia really enjoyed the project administration components of her past jobs and wanted to expand on that more while continuing projects that are both environmentally and economically beneficial to communities. Alicia’s education and work experience has been focused in the conservation of natural resources and the solar industry interested her. She decided to make a career change to solar because it fits her interests and the experience she will gain at Sandbar Solar & Electric. On Alicia’s spare time she likes to be active and be outdoors. Her favorite activities are roller derby, mountain biking, beach volleyball, basketball, camping, and backpacking.
