If you’re considering installing solar panels, you might be wondering about the costs.

And if you’re worried about being able to afford solar panels, don’t worry - there are ways to reduce your out-of-pocket investment.

Thanks to a few prominent Cupertino solar panel rebates, you can save money on the installation of your Cupertino home solar system.

In this blog, we’ll discuss a few of the most popular solar panel incentives you can take advantage of today.

Let’s dive in.

3 Cupertino Solar Panel Rebates You Should Know About

The Cupertino climate action plan wants to make clean energy available to everyone.

Fortunately, these rebates are helping to support that goal:

1. 30% Federal tax credit

The federal residential solar energy credit is a tax credit issued by the federal government. Customers who install solar panel systems can claim this credit when they file their federal income taxes for a portion of the system’s installation costs.

To claim the credit for a given calendar year, your system installation must be completed during the tax year, and the system must generate power for a home located in the US. There is no maximum amount a homeowner can claim.

Most recently, the government increased the tax credit to 30%. Take advantage of these savings by going solar today!

2. SGIP

SGIP stands for Self-Generation Incentive Program. Offered by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the SGIP provides incentives designed to support “new, existing, and emerging distributed energy resources.

”The SGIP program offers rebates for qualifying energy systems, including battery storage systems, wind turbines, internal combustion engines, and more.

The CPUC has authorized upwards of $1 billion in funding for SGIP through 2024. This funding helps prioritize energy storage systems in high fire-threat areas, and in communities that have had their public utilities shut off twice or more due to fire danger.

The funding also extends additional resources to medically vulnerable and low-income families and customers.

3. SASH

Offered by the California Solar Initiative (CSI), SASH stands for Single-Family Affordable Solar Homes. The program provides solar incentives for low-income families who own their homes.

The SASH program’s incentive is currently $3 per watt. To be eligible for SASH, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Own the home that is the service address and live in it full-time

  • Receive electrical service from Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), or Southern California Edison (SCE)

  • Have a total household income that is 80% of or below the median income for the area

  • Live in a home defined as “affordable housing” under California Public Utilities Code 2852

Install Your Cupertino Solar Panels Soon to Reap These Rebates

Solar panels don’t have to be out of budget. With these solar and battery rebates offered to Cupertino residents, you can save thousands on the total installation of your solar panel system.

In addition to available rebates, we can also help you access solar loans with reasonable rates and in some cases no payments for 12 months for qualified borrowers.

Keep in mind that rebates can change at any time, though, and some are set to run out entirely in the next few years. That means it’s smart to move quickly if you’re interested in Cupertino clean energy. The sooner you install your solar panels, the more likely you can benefit from the rebates you’re interested in.
